Taconnett Falls Chapter of the Maine Genealogical Society

Welcome to the Taconnett Falls Chapter web pages. In July 2025, the chapter’s large, diverse library moved into its new three-room suite of commercial office space at 21 College Avenue in Waterville after eight months of temporary storage in Winslow. The chapter hopes to resume regular business hours in December 2025, assisting its members and the public with genealogical research.

Our mission

The chapter’s purpose is to provide a suitable location for the collection, preservation, and use of our genealogical materials. Our desire is to stimulate interest in genealogy and assist the public in the compilation of personal genealogies and histories.

Our Library

The Taconnett Falls Genealogical Library has over 360 linear feet of genealogical books and records on its shelves. New books, records, and other resources are continually being added to this vast collection. Donations are welcome. Genealogy enthusiasts are encouraged to submit research queries by email to or by postal mail at the address given below in the membership information.

Membership

Membership in the Taconnett Falls Chapter is open to the public. Our regular dues are $10 per year (with additional levels of $20, $30, and $50 for sustaining, supporting, and sponsoring memberships, respectively). Members receive our monthly newsletter, which generally is distributed via email, although members without internet access may receive it by postal mail. The membership period is January 1 to December 31.

Members are asked to share their own five-generation pedigree charts, which are added to the chapter’s Pedigree Notebook. Members of our chapter are not required to belong to the Maine Genealogical Society, and paying dues to the chapter does not enroll a new member automatically in MGS.

A check for dues payment may be mailed to Taconnett Falls Chapter, P.O. Box 2103, Waterville, ME 04903. Please include a note providing your name, postal address, email address, telephone numbers, and any other relevant contact information. We also encourage you to describe particular areas of genealogical research in which you are interested.
